Our shop carries a wide selection of handmade batik prints.
The batik technique is used to create artistic prints depicting African themes which are now commonly referred to in Uganda as batiks. Each print is distinctive even when similar designs or motifs occur. Melted wax is applied to fabric to create a design which is then dipped in dye or dabbed with dye. The wax is later removed and the process may be repeated to create the desired effect. Some Uganda artists are combining batik techniques with screen printing to produce striking prints. Each artist has their own style or preferred themes.

Caring for your batik:- Preferably you should roll your batik for packing and later unroll it to flatten out the creases. Place brown paper or parchment paper over the print before ironing on the lowest setting. Do not wash your Batik as water may ruin the design. Use a brush to remove dust. For the long term care of your batik we advise customers to frame them.
